Cate Brennan's Beowulf Assignment for Grade 5

Teacher Cate Brennan had her class meet in the lab without her, emailed them this assignment and then checked on them once during the period.

Build a five (5) card hyperstudio stack about Beowulf. The first card will have the title, a proper heading and a drawing about Beowulf. The four other cards will be cartoon-like drawings showing what is happening. Have captions of people talking and one or two sentences explaining the action. Card #2 will deal with Beowulf coming to the aid of Hrothgar. Card #3 will deal with Beowulf and Grendel. Card #4 will deal with Beowulf and the Sea-Hag. Card #5 will deal with Beowulf and the dragon.

The students were held responsible for making their drawing of Beowulf, including period clothing, authentic. They were able to record and include sound bites on each card of their stack. The results were to be presented later, but saved on the school system such that the teacher could view them at her leisure.
